NFC South Division in the USA
The NFC South division was established in 2002 just before the National Football League (NFL) season started in the United States. This division is one of four divisions within the National Football Conference (NFC) and one of eight in the NFL. Four teams belong in this division, and they all are quite active in their own right. Here is a list of the four teams:
- Atlanta Falcons: This team joined the NFL in 1965, and it was considered an expansion team (a new team in a city where there was no team representing the city previously.) An expansion may have come about through public demand or the ingenuity of the league. This team usually plays its home games at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
- Carolina Panthers: The Panthers are one of the few teams in the NFL that has ownership of the stadium it plays on. This NFC South team plays on the Bank of America in North Carolina. In 2003 the Panthers won the NFC Championship game and reached the Superbowl in the same year.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: This NFC South Division team joined the NFL in 1976. Its first season was played under the AFC West division. - New Orleans Saints: The Saints were founded by John W Mecom Jr and David Dixon as well as the city of New Orleans in 1966.
