West Virginia Mobile Sports Betting Re-energized

West Virginia mobile sports betting will be on offer again for interested bettors. The service was initially offered to bettors in December, however, four months later it came to a sudden halt. Mobile sports betting was stopped in West Virginia because Miomni did not have the rights to operate the technology. Miomni was North Delaware’s partner in sports betting.

For the past six months, bettors in West Virginia were unable to place bets using their phones. However, there are signs that mobile sports betting might make a comeback later this year. The West Virginia Lottery told the media that they were at the end of the test stages of two mobile sports betting applications.

FanDuel is one of the sportsbooks that confirmed their intention to have a  mobile sports betting platform in the state. The press has speculated that the other sportsbook that may have mobile sports betting in the state is DraftKings. Before mobile sports betting was shut down, DraftKings was three months away from receiving approval. However, DraftKings has not told the media whether they intend to offer mobile sports betting in the state or not.

No Confirmed Date for Launch of West Virginia Mobile Sports Betting Platform

Bettors who had the service taken away from them so abruptly should be quite pleased with this revelation. William Hill is another sportsbook that has confirmed its intentions to offer mobile sports betting in West Virginia.

Bettors can only place wagers in three locations in West Virginia. The Fanduel Sportsbook is located in Greenbrier. Penn National Gaming also has a sportsbook at Hollywood Casino. In the northern part of West Virginia is the Mountaineer Racetrack and Resort where bettors can place bets.

Many bettors in West Virginia live in the central part of the state, which means that the three sportsbooks are inconveniently located for them. There is no specific date for the launch of the mobile sports betting platforms. However, sports betting enthusiast can be confident that it is coming.
